尼泊爾首都加德滿都已慢慢從強震陰影中恢復，許多偏遠地區的受災狀況則仍無法掌握。昨晚又有一名受困多天被救出的傷患從外地送到市中心的Bir醫院。該醫院的神經外科醫生Rajiv Tha表示，該院所收治的震災傷患已超過千人，其中約300人必須截肢。

他指出，目前該院的醫療資源還足夠，情況大致穩定，但目前還有很多人受困，他擔心該院將無法應付未來幾天的醫療需求。

Tha以自身經歷說明，地震後他就一直留在醫院治療不斷湧入的病患，睡眠時間很少。神經外科只有二位醫生，兩個人日夜輪班，不是在手術房就是在巡病房，迄已為21名病患進行腦部手術。

地震之初，病患都送到急診室，因那棟大樓也在地震中受損，所有震災病患都被移往新建的創傷中心。該中心共有380個床位，需住院者遠超過這個數字，為收容更多傷者，只好把病床間的距離縮小，走道也得擺床。隨著被困天數增加，預期再被送來的傷患狀況會更嚴重，昨晚送到的傷者雖然意識清楚，但四肢沒有感覺，無法移動。

依據尼泊爾內政部29日的最新統計，這場芮氏規模7.8的強震已造成5006人死亡，超過1萬人受傷。估計有280萬人受災流離失所，7萬棟房屋全倒，53萬棟房子受損。
